Let's face it: math is difficult. It takes a certain kind of brain, a certain kind of patience, and a certain amount of class and brilliance that just didn't get passed down to me.
I'm one of those people who pulls out a calculator to do simple math because the idea of working numbers in my head sounds like a joke. Whenever teachers say, "okay! You should be able to do this in your mind!" I die a little inside. Thank goodness I can do other things.
I love the people who make the kid history videos. Their children know exactly how to explain just how bad at math that I am. And because I love them so much, I'll share this with you:
please enjoy, and laugh. I'll sit here and appreciate the fact that my major helps me work with people, and not numbers.
Hahahaha! That was great! I totally remember having very similar conversations in pretty much every math class I ever took! Thanks goodness that's not the only thing we learn in schools!
ReplyDeleteThis made me laugh out loud! I am totally the same...bad at math and I dread having to do it! It makes me all anxious and makes me grateful for the social sciences.
